Fermented diptych consists of two painting objects: Bulbulbul (2021) and Waifu cumboard (2022). The first one depicts some distilled bulges or blisters that look like a toad’s skin. At the same time the painting surface is bulged and folded itself. It resembles skin of a living organism or an organic matter in the fermentation process.
The second one, Waifu cumboard, is inspired by a strange practice that has been reported on 4chan and evolved to be a viral. It involves putting one’s favorite female anime figure into the jar and cumming on it. I have placed these figures into the preserve and pickle jars. Innocent school girls and hentai fairies stare at us from between the pickled cucumbers and garlic. The painting itself is in the same time an everyday object: a cupboard or a kitchen unit. On its sides I carved similar anime characters. This painting object stays on jars with pickled cucumbers.
In this work I played and experimented with creating something alluring and revulsing at the same time. I have an intuition that these sensations often come together.
